Usually the last (highest) part of an ascent is
more interesting than the first (lowest) part
but for this ascent to the Passo Brocon from Grigno
the opposite is true.
Over the first 8.5 kilometers of this ride,
the road winds itself upwards on the side of a valley
with almost vertical rock walls.
Here the moderately steep road (mostly 6-8%) is exciting
and the landscape impressive.
After this first section, over the next two kilometers,
the road runs towards and through Castel Tesino (-5 to 3%).
Always follow the signs to the Passo Brocon.
After another two kilometers, which are almost horizontal,
keep left at a three-way junction.
From here on this climb is identical to the
climb to the Brocon starting in Chioè.
After the junction the road begins to slope substantially again.
It gains elevation rather monotonously (mostly 7%) through the forest
up to the culmination point of the ride
(Soggiorno Saronese, 1630 m).
The pass (1615 m) is reached four kilometers further,
on a road that alternately slopes slightly up and down.
If you think the route of this ascent after Castello Tesino is too boring,
you may consider replacing this part by the second part of the
ascent to the Brocon from Strigno.
This alternative has a much more exiting and steeper profile.
In that case you would have to deviate from the route in Castello Tesino
and follow the signs to Pieve Tesino,
where you then get to the alternative ascent.
