This long climb (almost 20 kilometers) overcomes a considerable number of meters in altitude (net 1127) and can be divided into three parts. Over the first 6 kilometers the road runs through the valley of the Ríu Páramo, passing several villages. Cycling is not yet that strenuous here (1-6%). For the second part of the ascent the road runs through a deep gorge. The rocks have quite a monotonous light gray colour. The road is a little steeper here (one kilometer at 8.3%). The last part of the climb is the longest one (another 11 kilometers). Over the first 2 kilometers the gradient is still moderate (5-6%) but after that all but one of the 500 meter segments have a slope of 7 or 8%. So in this respect there is little variety, a pleasure for those who like this. Unlike on the other side of the pass, dense forests have not been cut down on this side. Hence, views are sparse during this climb.
