Puerto de Ventana-south

Profile Puerto de Ventana-south

The climb from the south to the Puerto de Ventana is easy (453 meters in altitude and a steepest kilometer of 5.9%) and offers superb scenery. The forests on the southern side of the pass were cleared so you have plenty of views throughout the ascent. And those views are wonderful. The dominant colors are green, yellow and gray, corresponding to the vegetation, the gorse and the rugged mountain ranges, respectively. The ride is a real pleasure, also thanks to the low-traffic and only gently ascending road, which is unfortunately, typical for Spain, wider than necessary. Over the first 9.5 kilometers the road barely slopes (maximum 3%); the last 6 kilometers tilt 4-6%.
