Puerto de Tíscar-south

Profile Puerto de Tíscar-south

This climb in the small mountain range of the Sierra de Quesada leads through a breathtaking landscape. This is especially true for the part beginning after 9 kilometers of cycling with the descent to Belerda and ending after 15.5 kilometers of cycling past the village of Tíscar. Fantastic rock formations characterize the landscape. In addition, there are some picturesque Andalusian villages with their white houses and views of mountain ranges at large distances. If the atmosphere is clear you can see the Sierra Nevada in southerly direction. The climb begins on the JA-7201 near the bridge between the villages of Cerrillo and Collejares. The first 6 kilometers until Huesa run on this wide, fairly busy street. The gradient varies greatly (between -2 and 8%). In Huesa we continue straight on and will leave the village over a very steep stretch (250 meters of 13%). Then the road narrows and continues for another 2.5 kilometers with again a strongly variable slope. This part includes two 250 meter sections of 13%. After an anonymous pass the scenery becomes really superb as already described. First we cycle steeply downhill to the village of Belerda, located at the foot of a rock face. Here 174 meters of altitude are lost. After that the final climb to the Puerto de Tíscar begins, which bridges another 523 meters in altitude and in which the gradient of the 500 meter segments varies between 5 and 8%.
