Le Tovet is one of the starting points of the Nâves cross-country skiing area (Domaine nordique de Nâves). From Aigueblanche there are two more or less parallel climbs, lying close together, to Le Tovet. In my opinion, these are the most beautiful climbs in the Moûtiers-Les Trois Vallées region. During the ride there are nice views of the surrounding mountains and ski lifts are missing. The villages are hardly touristy, the roads are quiet. The two climbs merge at a fork in the road at the altitude of 1397 meters, to overcome the remaining more than 150 meters in altitude via the same small road. The northern variant described here runs via Villargerel and Navette. I found this variant the most beautiful of the two. The street is narrow, traffic is almost absent and since there is hardly any forest, one may enjoy the view thoroughly. The whole route is nowhere extremely steep, nor almost horizontal. All 31 five hundred meter segments have a gradient of 5-9% but 7 and 8% are the most common percentages (21 segments). Unfortunately the road surface is pretty bad (in 2022).
