Positive aspects of this climb with its ominous name are the scarcity of cars and the good condition of the road surface. On the other hand, I found this climb monotonous. The slope varies little (almost always 7-8%) and the road runs, except for the beginning and the final part, through the forest so views of the surrounding mountains are rare. The pass is not high (1360 meters) but due to the low start in Séchilienne there are still 1000 (minus 2) elevation meters to cover. The passages breaking the monotony are the first two kilometers, which are less steep and cross meadows and villages, and the easy final kilometer. The latter starts at the first houses after leaving the forest. Soon the road gets almost horizontal but do not stop here and continue up to the sign "Col de la Morte".
