Other climbs Black Forest

The first few hundred meters of this climb are spectacular. The starting point is the bridge over the Schiltach, just before it flows into the Kinzig. Drive east from here to turn right after about fifty meters. Then keep right on the marketplace with its beautiful half-timbered houses. The ride leads up through the very steep Schloßbergstrasse (the steepest 250 meters slope 18%). Cycling is made even more difficult here by the pavement of cobblestones, which are, in addition, covered by gravel. This section of the ascent is certainly suitable as training for the Tour of Flanders. Where the cobblestones stop and the asphalt begins the slope decreases to increase again after a few hundred meters. Here the road narrows to a footpath. However, soon a wider road is reached where we turn left. The road is still very steep so the steepest kilometer in the spectacular starting section has a gradient of 14 percent, despite the relatively easy intermediate part. There remain still three and a half kilometers to the finish, which are characterized by a lot of variety between steep and easy parts. Shortly before the end there is another 250 meter long strip with an inclination of 14%. There is little traffic on the entire climb while the road surface is outstanding.
