From the south there are two options to cycle to the Lorenapass. The ride from Egg described here is somewhat harder than the climb from Schwarzenberg (respectively 515 and 365 climb effort points). For the first almost 3 kilometres the route takes the main road from Egg towards Schwarzenberg. Here the cycling is still relatively easy (maximum 7%). After the turn-off from the main road there are still 3.5 kilometres left and turning the pedals quickly becomes harder. The final 3 kilometres of the ride have an average slope of 10.9%, including the steepest kilometre of the ride (the last part to the pass) at 12.0%. The road is narrow so that oncoming cars have difficulty to pass each other. The landscape is superb. In the foreground are the high, green hills of the Bregenzerwald and in the background lie the mountains of the Lechquellen Mountains. If you are lucky, the highest parts of the mountains are covered with snow.
