As the crow flies, the distance between Canazei and the Passo Pordoi measures only slightly more than three kilometers. However, the road is almost 12 kilometers long. In order to bridge the 799 elevation meters, the road winds itself up with a large number of hairpin bends. The ride begins in Canazei at the junction of the SS48 and the SP641. Though the road soon leads into the forest, there are still occasional glimpses of the surrounding Dolomite massifs. In this beginning part, the road is not very steep (4-8%). After five and a half kilometers, at a bifurcation at an altitude of 1810 meters, one arrives at the Sellaronda. Here we need to turn to the right. From here to the pass, the cyclist still has to deal with 429 elevation meters and 297 climb effort points. This section is not really hard since the road is nowhere very steep (6-8%).
