The climb to the Col de l'Encrenaz from Montriond is a real pleasure for those who love a well-paved road with little traffic and a few steeper sections. Here rules quietness after the fuss of Morzine and Les Gets. The ride starts at a turn-off for cyclists and walkers from the D902. The first 2.5 kilometres are easy (1-5%) but after turning right at the T-junction in Essert-Romand, the road becomes steeper (3.5 kilometres at 8-10%). In this passage, the road, lined by large, beautiful wooden houses, winds up with 6 hairpin bends. At the end of the village of Côte-d'Arbroz cycling becomes a bit easier but another kilometre further on the final section begins, which is steeper again (a little more than one and a half kilometres at 8-11%). At the pass a terrace is waiting for hungry and thirsty cyclists.
