It can be difficult to find the route of this climb.
I therefore recommend downloading the GPX track from this website
and using it for navigation.
The climb from Schruns to Kristberg
can be divided into two parts.
The first runs on the relatively wide road
leading through the Silbertal
and connecting Schruns with the village of Silbertal,
and is not that interesting (largely 3%).
In Silbertal near the church this climb turns left
into a side street
and the second part begins.
From here on the road is much narrower and much steeper.
Over the remaining distance to Kristberg (5 kilometers)
the gradient varies between 8 and 14%,
with the steepest kilometer of 12.6% almost at the beginning.
The road tends to gradually become less steep,
which I liked, but be warned, even the last
one and a half kilometers are not really easy (8-9%).
The road mostly winds through meadows and past farms.
In principle, this should result in superb views
but unfortunately the highest parts of the mountains remained
hidden behind clouds as I cycled here.
There is a terrace in Kristberg that can be very crowded
with people who ascended from Silbertal in the gondola.
