The ascent from Elmen in the Lechtal to the Hahntennjoch runs through a very beautiful, rugged and inhospitable mountain landscape. After a steep start (one kilometer with a slope of 11%) the road leads into the Bschlaber valley. The next almost nine kilometers are a child's play (mostly 0-6%) but just before the village of Boden, the road to the pass turns left and the climb really starts. Here the mountains are really rugged and the road is narrow and particularly steep. Over the next one and a half kilometers, the road climbs up by an average of 12.4%. One may recover somewhat when passing the hamlet of Pfafflar (a kilometer of 6-8%) but then another kilometer with a 12% gradient follows. All in all a wonderful climb with a single "but": there are many, many motorcyclists here. They are asked to "drive quietly" and the speed limit is set at 60 km/h. Unfortunately, many of them do not come to drive that slowly and quietly.
