This climb to the Puerto de Pandetrave from Portilla de la Reina, a small village located south of the pass, is certainly not difficult. Only 362 meters in altitude are gained and none of the 500 meter segments are steeper than 6%. The landscape is green with on both sides of the valley steep, rounded mountains, that are sparsely covered with vegetation. The view from the pass in northern direction of some huge mountain massifs of the Picos de Europa is impressive.
