Because my smart phone was stolen,
I unfortunately only have a few pictures of this climb.
I would be very happy,
if you took photos during this ride
and then send them to me.
It is important that the road is visible in the pictures.
Cyclists may also appear on the photos, but rather in the background.
I will mention your contribution in this text.
Cyclingup.eu describes three different options
to cycle to the Passo del Mortirolo.
This pass is best known among cyclists
through the utterly steep
climb from Mazzo del Valtellina,
but here the ascent from Grosio is described,
a village located in the same valley as Mazzo (Valtellina) but further north.
This ride is not as extremely steep as the climb from Mazzo
but certainly also challenging.
There are 1173 meters of altitude to overcome
on a road whose slope varies greatly.
The steepest sections seem to be randomly
distributed over the distance.
The steepest kilometer has a gradient of 11.6%
and twice there is a strip of 250 meters at 14%.
The quiet street that is hardly ever straight,
merges after about 11 kilometers of cycling with
the route of the famous climb from Mazzo.
The two climbs then cover together the remaining
3 kilometers until the pass (9-10%).
