For me the Passo Sella (Sellajoch in German) forms the most beautiful point of the Sellaronda. The views of the nearby Langkofel, the nearby Sellamassif and the distant Marmolada are breathtaking. On this pass, there is also less tourist fuss than on the Passo Pordoi and the Passo Gardena. The ride begins in Canazei at the junction of the SS48 and the SP641. Though the road soon leads into the forest, there are still occasional glimpses of the surrounding Dolomite massifs. In this beginning part, the road is not very steep (4-8%). After five and a half kilometers, at a bifurcation at an altitude of 1810 meters, one arrives at the Sellaronda. Here we turn to the left. From here, still 429 elevation meters and 353 climb effort points await the cyclist. This section also contains the steepest kilometer of the Sellaronda(10.3%). Beautiful is the view of the wild Val Lastiès, which is lying first in front and later to the right of the climbing cyclist. The pass itself is magnificent, as described above.
