Other climbs Italian Alps

The first half of this climb to Fragges from Prad am Stilfser Joch (Prato allo Stelvio in Italian) is identical with the beginning of the famous climb from Prad to the Stelvio Pass (Passo dello Stelvio in Italian). In this part the road is still wide and without hairpin bends, and there is even a cycle path for ascending cyclists. The road gradually becomes steeper (the slope increases from 2 to 8%). In Gomagoi we leave the route to the Stelvio Pass and turn sharply right towards Stilfs Dorf (Stelvio Paese). An easy kilometer (5%) further on the route takes a turnoff to the left and from here the signs to Fragges should be followed. The road gets steeper again to reach the 10% mark after a little more than a kilometer, near a sharp left turn. The gradient then remains 10% until after another 2.5 kilometers at the Fragges farm the end of the asphalt is reached. We were hoping for a nice view of the Ortler massif but unfortunately this is hidden behind a ridge in between.
