This beautiful short climb starts in Bramant, located in the wide Arc valley, and leads into a side valley on the orographically left side of the main valley. To reach this higher-lying side valley, the road is quite steep in the first part of the route (a section of 3.5 kilometres has an average gradient of 8.8%). After that, the ride through the Vallon d’Ambin towards Le Planay becomes relatively easy, with the gradient varying between –3 and 6%. After turning right in Le Planay, the road becomes narrower and starts to wind its way up into the Vallon d’Étache with several hairpin bends. Later on the route continues more or less straight ahead. From Le Planay on, climbing is serious again, with a strongly varying gradient (6–11%). The route ends where the asphalt stops. Note that beyond Le Planay the road surface is often in poor condition (in 2025). On the descent, one should definitely watch out for drainage channels across the road. And finally: though this may not be a famous climb, I greatly enjoyed the beauty of the landscape and the solitude.
