This climb contains a merciless section. The first one and a half kilometers from Hornberg are not yet exciting (2-4%) but then, when we turn left into a little valley, the road immediately gets much steeper. This is just the beginning. From the end of the residential area the slope becomes really infernal (or gorgeous, depending on the physical and mental state of the cyclist). The next kilometer has a gradient of 15.9%, to this day (2019) the steepest kilometer on this website in the Black Forest. Only when leaving the valley with a sharp bend the pain (or the pleasure) alleviates somewhat. Note however that in this case mitigation means that the next kilometer still has a slope of 10-13% so real recovery is still impossible. Fortunately, the last two kilometers are pretty easy. They include a short descent (7 elevation meters) and a strip of 250 meters of 13% just before the finish, which is located at a fork in the road right next to a wooden shed.
