The first six kilometers of the climb from Servance via Miellin to the Col des Chevrères do not make a deep impression. The slope varies between 0 and 6%. The remaining 3.5 kilometers, however, past Miellin, are remarkable. Here a narrow road winds its way up through the forest. The first kilometer after Miellin is still pretty normal (5-10%) but then two very hard kilometers with an average gradient of 11.5% follow. The steepest 250 meters (16%) are only slightly less steep than the infamous, last and steepest 250 meters of the neighboring climb to La Planche des Belles Filles (17%). After these steep two kilometers, the final few hundred meters to the pass are relatively easy (9%). Throughout the whole ride the landscape on both sides of the road is very green.
