During my ascent to the Col des Saisies from the north, I saw quite a lot of traffic and many other road bikers, perhaps partly because this pass is one of the elements of the Route des Grandes Alpes. However, this ascent is not really spectacular. The number of elevation meters (789) is relatively small, the road is nowhere very steep (the steepest kilometer slopes 8.3%) and the views are nice but not impressive. The route proposed here starts at 906 meters in Flumet, where also the ascent to the Col des Aravis begins. A striking feature of the profile is the great variety in the slope. There are three descends, namely after six kilometers just before Le Planay (6 elevation meters), after 9 kilometers past Les Vesin (38 elevation meters) and one kilometer before the pass (3 elevation meters). The pass is located in the heart of the tumult of the ski resort of Les Saisies. This does not exactly provide an ideal enjoyment of nature but a visit to one of the many terraces may offer some compensation.
