The quiet road of the Col des Champs connects Colmars in the valley of the Verdon with St-Martin-'d'Entraunes in the valley of the Var. The entrance from the D908 is somewhat hidden. Then, a narrow road winds itself up the mountain, in the beginning with many hair pin turns. For a long stretch climbing is done in a relatively dense forest but in the second half of the climb views open towards high summits. Steepness is very regular, mostly ~8%. The highest point is reached a few hundred meters before the location marked as the pass. I hardly met other cyclists on this pass though it is a part of the loop Col d'Allos - Col des Champs - Col de la Cayolle from Barcelonnette.
