The ascent from Rankweil to Dünserberg is much less beautiful than the ascent to the same place from the valley of the Ill. This is due to the first six kilometers between Rankweil and Übersaxen. Here the road is wide and runs mostly through the forest, so rewarding views are missing. Two kilometers after the start, the road becomes steep and this does not change for the next 4.5 kilometers, until shortly after Übersaxen (average 8.9%). After that, the ride gets more pleasant, as the narrow, winding road leads through a beautiful forest. For three kilometers cycling is also easier (0-5%) but then there is a 500 meter segment of 10% that ends at the highest point of the road. Only on the remaining approx. 200 meters the cyclist may enjoy views of the high mountains, which are so typical of the ascent to Dünserberg from the other side.
