Greener surroundings than those of the climb from El Bosque to the Puerto del Boyar are hardly possible. Forest everywhere and, if there is no forest, pastures. Oh yes, and a white village, Benamahoma. Such an abundant vegetation is, of course, not typical of Spain but this part of Spain is, according to an information board at the pass, the wettest place of the Iberian Peninsula with an annual precipitation of 2200 mm (compared to approximately 600 mm in London). In terms of profile, the climb is not really exciting. Nowhere the slope exceeds 10 percent. The first four kilometers of the ride are fairly easy (2-7%). Then the roads descends until the turnoff to Benamahoma, which causes a loss of 39 elevation meters. After that just over 10 kilometers remain before the pass is reached. Mostly the road has a slope of 7 or 8%.
